Two districts, sixteen taluks.
We are in Udupi. These are the places we can reach, with an honest note on each about how far it is and what that changes.
Udupi district
Seven taluks. This is our own district, so a site visit here is normal rather than an event.
- 01 Udupi Our own town. A temple town with a restaurant trade that travels, and a hospital and education belt at Manipal on its doorstep.
- 02 Kundapura A fishing and trading town where a great deal of business is still settled in a book, and where the connection drops often enough to matter.
- 03 Karkala Granite, temples and the road up the Ghats. A town of trading businesses where the owner still knows every customer by name.
- 04 Brahmavara Highway town, agricultural belt behind it. A lot of businesses here sell to both the road and the villages inland.
- 05 Byndoor The northern end of the district, where the beach and the highway run alongside each other and the nearest big town is an hour away.
- 06 Kaup Beach town between Udupi and Mangaluru, with the lighthouse, weekend traffic and a steady run of small hospitality businesses.
- 07 Hebri A small town where the district meets the Western Ghats, with plantation trade and the shops and transport that serve it.
Dakshina Kannada district
Nine taluks, from Mangaluru down to Sullia. The commercial weight of the coast is here, and so is most of the competition.
- 01 Mangaluru The commercial centre of the coast. A port, a banking history, hospitals, colleges, and the only local market where you will meet real competition for a quote.
- 02 Bantwal On the Netravati, on the road inland. Trading and transport country, close enough to Mangaluru to feel its pull.
- 03 Belthangady Ghat country, with Dharmasthala in it. Pilgrim movement on one side, plantations on the other.
- 04 Puttur Cashew and areca town. Trading businesses with real volume and pricing that moves with the market.
- 05 Sullia Inland, towards the Kerala side of the district. Trading and plantation businesses, and far enough from the coast that most of the work is done remotely.
- 06 Moodbidri The Jain basadis and a large education presence, in a town small enough that word of mouth still decides most things.
- 07 Kadaba Inland and agricultural, one of the district newer taluks, where most businesses are small and run by the family that owns them.
- 08 Mulki Coastal, between Mangaluru and Udupi, with fishing, the river mouth and a steady run of small trade along the highway.
- 09 Ullal Across the river from Mangaluru, coastal and dense, with a fishing economy and a great deal of business tied to families working abroad.
Taluk boundaries in both districts were redrawn in recent years and published sources still disagree on some of the dates, so this site lists the taluks and leaves the dates to the government.

- 01Do you actually work in all sixteen, or is this a list for search engines?
- We work across both districts and we are honest on each page about how far away it is. Byndoor and Sullia are long runs from Udupi, so that work is mostly remote with planned visits, and each page says so rather than pretending otherwise.
- 02Why a separate page for each taluk?
- Because business in Puttur is not business in Kaup. A cashew trader and a six room homestay need different software, and one page covering both would be useless to each of them.
- 03What if we are outside these two districts?
- Most software work happens remotely anyway, so distance matters less than it sounds. These districts are simply where we can also turn up in person, which is worth something but is not a requirement.
